Harold "'Pete'" Seeley (1923 - 2014)

Harold "Pete" Seeley, 90, longtime Brush and Sterling area resident, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at the East Morgan County Hospital. A memorial service & inurnment will be held later this spring.

Pete worked for Public Service Company of Colorado for 33 years, retiring in 1980. He later owned Seeley Realty in Brush before retiring again.

Survivors include his wife, Verna of Brush.

Heer Mortuary in Brush is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial graveside service for Harold "Pete" Seeley, 90, and Verna J. Seeley, 89, will be Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Interment Chapel at Brush Memorial Cemetery in Brush, CO.

Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army and the honor guard from VFW #3551 & American Legion Sagebrush Post.

Pete was born September 2, 1923, in Winfield, KS, to Harold H. and Hazel Seeley. He died Tuesday, January 14, 2014.

Verna was born January 17, 1925, in New Raymer, CO, to Geneveive and Wilbur Fiscus. She died June 21, 2014.

Pete and Verna, grade school and high school sweethearts, were married June 20, 1942, in Fruita, CO. They lived on various military bases while Pete served in the U.S. Army.

Verna lived with her parents and brother when Pete was deployed overseas. Their only son, Rodney Keith Seeley, was born March 17, 1947.

Following Pete's honorable discharge, Pete worked for Public Service of Colorado from 1947 until retiring June 1, 1980. They lived in Sterling from 1947 until moving to Brush in 1968. Verna worked for the Logan County Treasurer Office for 12 years.

After moving to Brush, she worked for Sigman Meat Company and later the Wilhelm Feed Lot south of Fort Morgan. When Pete retired in 1980, he started Seeley Realty in Brush. They retired in 1983.

Following their retirement, The Seeley's traveled by motor home, living in Florida, Yuma, AZ, Greeley and Fort Collins, before moving back to Brush.

Verna is survived by her brother, Virgil Fiscus of Loveland, nieces and nephews, Ken Fiscus, Janet Kloberdanz, Pam Fiscus all of Sterling; Cheryle Crawford and Mike Fiscus of Loveland.

Pete is survived by his niece Rhonda Bumgardner of Grand Junction and nephew Mickel Seeley of Indiana.

They were preceded in death by their son Rodney, their parents, and Pete's brother.
