Irene M. Seeley, 80, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, Dec. 6, 2012, at her home.

Irene was born on Nov. 23, 1932, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth (Ingersol) Smith in the town of Russia. She attended Poland Central School. On April 18, 1953, she was united in marriage to Burel Seeley. They shared a union of 42 years until his passing in January 1995.

She was of the Methodist faith. Irene was formerly employed by Little Falls Hospital in the dietary department until her retirement in the early 1980s. For many years, during retirement, she served as a bus monitor for Dolgeville Central School. Irene enjoyed crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, visits to New Jersey and loved being with her two sons and her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbors.

Irene is survived by her beloved sons, Jeff Seeley and his wife, Suzanne, of Stockton, N.J., and Gary Seeley, of Salisbury; her loving grandchildren, Rebecca, Catherine, Samantha, Ryan and Aaron Seeley; sisters, Bertha Wolzemuth, Helen Smith, Jane Graudon, Pearl Mabett and Betty Marko; brothers, William Smith and Robert Smith; sister-in-law, Phyllis Wagner; special friends, Stella and Dale Lanphere; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph Smith and David Smith; sisters, Bernice Smith and Mary Rachon; and sisters-in-law, Wilma Wessleman and Isabelle Gray.

Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour that will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf St., Dolgeville, and to attend her funeral service immediately after calling hours on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in Salisbury Rural Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband.

The Seeley family would like to thank Stella and Dale Lanphere and family for their kind and compassionate care for Mrs. Seeley during her stay with them.
