GAITHERSBURG, Md. -- Jay Seeley, 50, of Gaithersburg, Md., died Thursday evening, Nov. 28, 2002, at John Hopkins Hospital, following a long battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow in Millburg Cemetery. Memorial donations may be sent to the funeral home made to the John Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center.

Jay was born Oct. 27, 1952, in Binghamton, N.Y. He worked for the Bechtel Construction Company for 20 years as a mechanical superintendent and later as a site manager for large nuclear construction projects. He was a member of the Pipe Fitter's Union, United Association Local 725 located in Miami, Fla., and served actively as a trustee for several years.

Jay was a Sergeant in the Army from 1970 to 1972, serving with an intelligence unit in Korea. He graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in 1970.

He is survived by his wife -- Raeann Shane; parents, Manford and Patricia Seeley of Fort Lauderdale; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lou Ann and Robert Shane of Berrien Springs; brothers -- Tim Seeley of Las Vegas; Lee Seeley of Fort Lauderdale; and John (Cassie) Seeley of Champaign, Ill.; brother-in-law, Jason (Tracy) Shane of Eau Claire; and several nieces and nephews.

Jay had many friends world-wide who will miss him greatly.
