ALBANY Leonard T. Seeley, 88, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center. He was born in Schenectady on April 22, 1927, the son of the late Aaron A. Sr. and Nina Barnes Seeley. Leonard was educated in the Schenectady School System, and upon graduation enlisted in the Marine Corp during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the service, he became a plumbing contractor and ran his own business for 60 years. He also worked for the General Electric Corporation for 25 years. Leonard loved flying and had owned his own plane in the past. He was a life member of the Empire State Aero-Sciences Museum (ESAM) at the Schenectady Airport, where he served as a member of the executive board, the board of directors, and the Airshow committee for many years. He was also a member of the Deputy Sheriffs Association from 1970 to 1980 (snowmobile patrol). Leonard was the beloved husband of Patricia McDermid Seeley; the father of Leonard L. Seeley (Deborah), Kenneth J. Seeley (Betty Ann) and Gary R. Seeley; grandfather of Gavin Seeley and great-grandfather of Tiernan Seeley. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his loving family, Leonard had many friends whose relationships he valued dearly. His caring and concern endeared him to all. His family would like to thank all who responded with prayers and sympathy during this difficult period and acknowledge the care and compassion shown by his doctors and nursing staff at the VA Hospital. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit Thursday, April 30, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home Friday, May 1, 2015, at 9:30 a.m., and proceed to the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery for a 11 a.m. service.
