Lois A. (Kalteis) Seeley, 88, of North East, and formerly of South Ripley, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at UPMC Hamot. She was born on June 21, 1926, in North East, Pa., a daughter of the late Carl John and Amanda Lexow Kalteis.
Lois was a very active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North East, where she was a member of the Valpo Guild and the LWML. She worked with Lutheran Braille Workers from 1986 through 2006, transposing English into Braille. For many years, she was the pianist at the South Ripley United Methodist Church in South Ripley, N.Y. Lois enjoyed working in her garden, baking and spending time with her family. For many years, she worked as Parts Manager for Mackay-Swift Dodge in North East.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Seeley Sr., in 2005, one brother Carl Kalteis and two sisters, Helen Sceiford and Dorothea Hirtzel. Lois is survived by her son, Donald A. Seeley Jr. and his wife Theresa, of North East and three daughters, Rebecca Dorr and her husband Albert of North Tonawanda, N.Y., Kathleen Peck and her husband William of Panama, N.Y. and Louann Stephens and her husband James of Williamsville, N.Y. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the W. Tad Bowers Funeral Home, 92 S. Lake St., North East, Pa., on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and are invited to attend funeral services on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 30 Clinton St., North East, Pa. Rev. David Kuchta will officiate. Interment will be in North East Cemetery.
