Mildred Irene Seeley

Mildred Irene Seeley, 99, of Ashton, Idaho, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at her home of natural causes incident to age.

She was born Nov. 2, 1915, in Drummond, Idaho, to Ernest Emmett Garver and Minnie Elizabeth Garver. When she was 3, her father died, and her mother ultimately married Alvin Wellington Seeley, whose wife had also died.

She attended schools in Ashton.

On Dec. 22, 1932, she married Hyrum Wightman Seeley at the Madison County Courthouse in Rexburg, Idaho. She worked her entire life on the original family homestead north of Ashton. She and Hyrum acquired more land as time went by. They sold the farm to their sons in 1972, retired and moved to Ashton. The farm she was raised on was the center of her life, as she loved to travel there whenever possible. Later in life, she always liked to ask questions about the farm and what was going on. After she moved to Ashton, she continued her love of farming by raising a wonderful garden each year.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While she was able, she enjoyed teaching primary, studying religious scriptures and looked forward to receiving visiting teachers and home teachers. She enjoyed her family, especially her husband, Hyrum, when he was alive.

She is survived by her children, Delma White, Ernest R. (Dixine) Seeley, Alvin Dick (Jan) Seeley, Arnold L. (Judy) Seeley and Mildred Grieve, and sister-in-law, Joyce Seeley, all of Ashton. Mildred was a constant caregiver to her mother over the past several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, three stepsisters, a stepbrother and two half-brothers. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Ashton LDS Stake Center, 516 N. Second St., with Bishop James Jorgensen officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main St., Ashton, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the stake center prior to services. Interment will be in Pineview Cemetery, North 3600 East and East 1300 North, Ashton.
