Mildred J. Seeley

Mildred J. Seeley, 78, of W3463 South County Road A, Oostburg died Friday afternoon, January 13, 2006 at St. Nicholas Hospital where she had been a patient since Thursday.

Mildred was born on March 16, 1927 in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Walter and Mildred (Elifson) Pennow. She graduated from Washington High school in Milwaukee and then attended MATC. On March 20, 1948 she married the late Glenn Seeley in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1987.

Mildred was a chemist for Miller Brewery following her schooling. Later she was a dock supervisor at JC Penney Warehouse in Milwaukee for 15 years before her retirement in 1981. In December 1983, she and her husband moved to the Oostburg area where they spent their retirement. Mildred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg where she was involved with the Bible Study Group and the prayer chain. She also volunteered to work in the library and for many funeral lunches. Mildred was a hard worker always eager to help with any work that needed to be done. She was a very patriotic person and was a strong advocate for US veterans organizations. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and the Womens Auxiliary of the Cooties. She was also a volunteer at the Pine Haven Corner Store. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, needlework and spending time with children, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by four daughters, Genevieve Wenzel of Plymouth, Kay Seeley of Oostburg, Elaine (Richard) Trossen of Oostburg, and Wendy (Kevin) Sippel of Cascade; eight grandchildren, Anthony Seeley, Joseph Wenzel, Amanda (Jim) Herman, Jeremy and Justin Rinehart, Zachary, Glenn and Rianna Sippel; one great grandson, Cody Klujeske; one sister, Margaret (Thomas) Bushman of Florida; and one brother, Walter (Joyce) Pennow of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Duane Seeley; a granddaughter, Stacy Lynn Rinehart; and two brothers, Louis (Winifred) Pennow and William (Emily) Pennow.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg at with the Rev. James DeCamp officiating. A family service will precede at 9:45 am in the fellowship hall. Burial will follow at Oostburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Monday, January 16, 2006 from 4-7 pm; and on Tuesday, at church, from 9 am until the time of service at 10 am.
