Penelope (Penny) Susan Seeley

Penelope (Penny) Susan Seeley, 74, of Harbor Springs, Michigan, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday, April 4, 2014, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.

Penny was born on October 18, 1939, in Detroit, MI to Frank Ingram and Eve Gertrude Gillespie (Yanovich) of Allen Park, MI, she attended Allen Park High School until graduation in January of 1958. Penny married James George Albert in April, 1958, settling in Taylor, MI, where they had two sons, Michael Frank (1960) and Gary James (1963). Penny ventured up north with her two boys in 1970, settling in Harbor Springs. She married the love of her life, Jerry Seeley, on April 21, 1973 and they were together for 37 wonderful years prior to Jerry’s passing in 2010.

Among her many hobbies, Penny cherished reading, gardening, travelling, baking cookies, spending time with family, riding her horses and enjoying her beloved dogs.

Penny was a great comfort to her family and friends and would go out of her way to help others and make sure they had everything they needed. Her thoughtful consideration of others was matchless. Penny was a passionate advocate for patient’s dignity when it came to cancer treatment at Northern Michigan Hospital and was instrumental in forming policy to help preserve and respect that dignity. More than all of these wonderful traits, she will be remembered for her infectious laugh and an inner light that shines on through those she loved most.
