PLEASANTVILLE — Richard L. (Rich) Seeley Sr., 76, of 17193 N. Main St. Ext., Pleasantville, died at his residence and entered eternal life at 8:05 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Seeley was born at the family home in Enterprise on Feb. 10, 1936, to the late Burton and Blanche Wright Seeley. He married Kay L. Hubert on June 14, 1958, at Sanford United Methodist Church.

He attended the Enterprise school.

Rich was the owner of Seeley Forest Services, Coal Oil Johnny's Restaurant in Pleasantville, and a co-owner with his son of the former Penn Lumber & Wood. He also worked as a self-employed contractor for Hammermill and Quaker State and was employed by the former Struthers Wells Corp. in Titusville.

He was a proud sponsor of many youth baseball and softball teams and was known as the bubble gum man to many kids. He also sponsored Seeley's bowling team for many years.

Mr. Seeley loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, cutting firewood and being in the woods. He also enjoyed playing dominos with a group of his special friends, gardening and pitching horseshoes.

Over the years Rich and Kay traveled extensively from coast to coast and from Canada to Key West, Fla. He especially enjoyed spending time with his many nieces, nephews, adopted granddaughter and her children, and many friends. Rich loved life and was always there to lend a hand to family and friends.

He was a member of the Pleasantville Lions Club, Pleasantville United Methodist Church and Pleasantville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

Mr. Seeley is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay L. Seeley of Pleasantville; 13 brothers and sisters, Margaret Wakefield of Titusville, Jack Seeley, Robert Seeley of Pleasantville, Ann Cartney of Titusville, Charlotte Gustafson of Titusville, Alta Webber and husband, Robert, of Meadville, Virginia Hubert and husband, Martin, of Centerville, Donald Seeley of Huntingdon, Marilyn Seeley of Erie, Shirley Beers and husband, Steven, of Titusville, Gloria Grow and husband, Harry, of Erie, Herbert Seeley, and Alice Jones and husband, Richard, of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard L. (Dick) Seeley Jr.; six sisters, Daisey Jones, Marian Paden, Nina Mitchell, Phyllis Keyes, Thelma Postalewait and Stella Millard; and two brothers, Harold Seeley and Burton Seeley Jr.

Friends may call at Pleasantville United Methodist Church on Thursday from 1:30 to 3 p.m., with the funeral service to follow, conducted by the Rev. Donald Russell, pastor of the church.

Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
