R.M. Seeley, Attorney, Dies

Roy M. Seeley, 83, of 1524 Wiggins Ave., Springfield lawyer since 1900 and city attorney for three terms, died at 5:40 a.m. yesterday at his residence.

Born March 10, 1874, in Oakland County, Mich., the son of the late Maj. H. and Helen Seeley, he attended Michigan schools and obtained a law degree from the Northern Illinois College of Law.

Mr. Seeley was elected city attorney for three terms and was active in public and civic affairs. He was a leader in the Sangamon County Republican Party.

On Oct. 19, 1910, he was married to Elizabeth McGowan. She died Sept. 17, 1954.

Surviving are one daughter, Miss Helen Seeley of Springfield, and an aunt, Mrs. Adell Richardson of Novi, Mich.

Mr. Seeley was a member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament; the Sangamon County Bar Assn.; the Illinois Bar Assn., and the American Bar Assn.

Remains are at the Kirlin & Egan Funeral Home. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Peter J. Donohoe officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
