WATERBURY - Thomas M. Seeley, 72, of Waterbury, retired Waterbury police officer, husband of Maria Quiles (Milia) Seeley, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Waterbury Hospital.

Mr. Seeley was born in Waterbury, Nov. 1, 1940, son of the late Theodore R. and Twila (Ireland) Seeley. He was a lifelong Waterbury resident growing up in Waterville where he graduated from Sprague Grammar School and Leavenworth High School.

Mr. Seeley enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in March 1960, serving at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, the Caribbean and South America. He was attached to the U.S. Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean Sea participating in the making of the movie, The Longest Day. He then served in the Pacific on the island of Guam, where he was attached to security for the Naval Air Station.

Mr. Seeley became a member of the Waterbury Police Department after his discharge from the military in 1964 and retired from the department in 1998.

Tom loved fishing, hunting, and was an avid New York Yankee fan.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his two stepchildren, Kim and Charles Milia of Oakville; his brothers, Richard Seeley and his wife, Lorraine, of Danbury, and Brian Seeley and his wife, Marianne, of Watertown; and three sisters, Betty Foti and her husband, Carmen, of Waterbury, Carol Natale of Oakville, and Twila Dews and her husband, Arthur, of Watertown. He also leaves his companion and pet, Mickey. Tom was predeceased by five brothers, Jack, Ted, Robert, Bernard and Charles.

Funeral will be 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St., to All Saints' Episcopal Church, 262 Main St., Oakville, for a service in thanksgiving of his life at 10 a.m. Burial will follow with military honors in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.
