Virgil D. Seeley, 88, of Irrigon died Friday, June 28, 2013, in Hermiston. He was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Lafayette, Colo. Memorial service with military honors will be held Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m. at Columbia View Community Church, 1240 E. Highway 730, Irrigon. A luncheon will follow at the Stokes Landing Senior Center. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in care of arrangements.

Virgil D. Seeley, 88 of Irrigon died on Friday June 28, 2013 in Hermiston. He was born in Lafayette, Colorado on November 23, 1924. Virgil was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy Seabees.

Virgil was a resident of Irrigon since 1994. He worked as a crane operator on the lower monument dam on the Snake River retiring in 1987. His 1st wife Patricia died in 2002. He then married Arland Williams in 2004. Alzheimers and prostate CA got him in the end. We had him at home as long as we could I was staying day & night taking care of them since January. Finally in May he got too sick and Dr. Swena said he needed more care and he went to Ashley Manor where he passed away. He loved their animals at home they still have Tiny & Fat Cat. They would play for hours. Their yard decorations were Buzzards, they have 20 buzzards all sizes all around their yard. He had 2 granddaughters serving in Iraq, being a Veteran he was very proud they had the red flag with the white star in their window and when they worked the rest stop at Boardman for the Senior Center he never missed a chance to thank a service person and tell them about his granddaughters in Iraq and any where, Wal Mart or any where he would go up to a military person in uniform and thank them and tell them of his granddaughters they may have only been step granddaughters but it didn’t matter to him he was very proud. He was a member of Columbia View Community Church, He enjoyed long trips on his Goldwing Motorcycle, Golf until his vision was so bad be couldn’t see the balls anymore, weekly trips to Wildhorse Casino with the senior bus the last 5 years.

He also liked to fish.

He his survived by his wife, Arland Williams; son, Virgil P. Seeley; daughter, Mary Reid; 3 grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and dog Barker. Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday July 13th 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Columbia View Community Church at 1240 E. Hwy 730 in Irrigon.

Memorials may be made to Irrigon Volunteer Ambulance Department. Funeral Arrangements are in care of Burns Mortuary of Hermiston.
