Wallace R. Seeley

Wallace R. Seeley passed away January 9, 2015 at the age of 93. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, he was raised in the Eastwood neighborhood of Syracuse. He was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Cornell University where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He captained the lightweight football team and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. Upon graduation, he entered the Army and served in Europe as a reconnaissance pilot at the end of World War II. After the war he earned his MBA from Harvard and began a long career in financial management for several corporations.

He was married to Margaret (Northrop) Seeley for almost 63 years. He is survived by his children, Jim (Beth), Tom (Beth), Mike (Marianne), Carolyn (Lou Mellen); and grandchildren, (Andrew Mellen, Cori Mellen Boland, Kyle, Faith, Lila, Karly, Ryman, Joanna, Robbie and Meg); and one great-grandson, Oliver Boland. He was predeceased by his grandson, Jamie.

He will be remembered for the example he set for his family. He was active in the communities where he lived. He served on the school board in Brighton, New York, as well as the Smoke Rise board and the Vestry of St. David's Episcopal Church in Kinnelon, New Jersey. He retired to Cazenovia, New York in 1991 where he served on the Vestry of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. He loved singing, football, skiing, and the Adirondacks; he is a 46'er. He always left a camp site better than he found it.

A memorial service is planned for the spring.
