Alfred R. Seeley of Remsen

Alfred Seeley, 82, of Stockhauser Road, passed away on July 11, 2007 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. Born on July 2, 1925 in Little Falls, a son of James and Anna Christmas Seeley. He graduated from Dolgeville High School and entered the U.S. Navy in 1943. He was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Gunner's Mate 3rd Class. After the war he worked at the H.P. Snyder Factory, Little Falls, Dolgeville Dress Shop, Breckwell Lumber, and Daniel Green Shoe Shop. In 1954, he started employment with Griffiss Air Force Base as a Crash and Structural Fireman. He retired in 1977. From 1979-89, he was a custodian at Holland Patent Central School. He married Beverly Calhoun, that ended in divorce. He also was married to Carole Gates, that ended in divorce in 1995. Alfred was a member of the Stittville V.F.W. and the Cold Brook American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Walt Pomichter, Prospect, Nancy and Patrick Turner, Oriskany Falls; grandchildren, Jamie Pomichter and special friend, Tammy and children, Kristie and Tim Hopsicker and children, and Jerry L. Turner; one great-grandson, Paul Pomichter; special friends, John Stockhauser, Prospect, Jay and Debbie Boak, Barneveld, Dale and Sharon Newman and family, Cold Brook; nieces and nephews. A sister, Alice Knapp died before him. Services will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Ackley-Mills Funeral Home, 9597 Main St., Remsen. Interment, Dolgeville Cemetery.
