Dr. A. James Seeley, Jr., 95, of Malta, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Born in Troy, NY, on April 22, 1915, he was the son of the late Arlington J. Seeley, Sr. and Ruth O. Fargo Seeley. He was a graduate of the Eastern Chiropractic Institute of New York City. He lived in Round Lake, Troy and Charlton, before moving to the Home of the Good Shepherd in Malta, a place he dearly loved. Jim was a force behind chiropractors being recognized as professionals in New York State, which resulted in licensure. He was a prime mover in a scientific study at RPI to prove the results of chiropractic treatment is a science. However, the study was not completed due to a lack of will to fund the project. He practiced in Troy for 40 years. Jim started a health food store in Troy, before it was fashionable, so his patients could get the type of food he wanted them to have. He was a gentleman, a scholar, and a visionary. He was married to Majel Amy Wheeler for 66 years, and had known her since childhood. Majel predeceased him in 2004. He is survived by his daughters, Arlene Pack (Howard) of Strongsville, Ohio and Majel Ann Craft (Allen) of Ballston Spa; two grandsons, Brian J. Pack (Jessica) of Galina, Ohio and Eric Allen Craft (Christine) of Shrewsbury, MA and currently of Tokyo, Japan; four great-grandchildren, Weston and Cameron Pack, and Nora and Eliza Craft. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 11, at Armer Funeral Home, Inc, 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
