The funeral will be held February 19 for Arthur Gilbert Seeley of Eugene, who died February 15 of heart failure. He was 84.

Seeley was born March 29, 1919, in Chico, Calif., to Lewis and Grace Ellis Seeley. He married Helen Johnson in Eugene on July 2, 1977.

He was raised in Grants Pass, where he graduated from high school in 1938.

He served as a mechanic in the Army Air Corps during World War II and repaired aircraft in Florida.

He worked as a mechanic with Dunham Motors in Eugene for 16 years and later owned an operated a body and paint shop. He will be remembered as a man who was extremely talented with his hands and took pride in his work.

He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He also enjoyed an active social life, especially dancing at the Elks Lodge where he was a member.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Rodger of Medford; a stepson, David Johnson of Coos Bay; a step daughter, Kathleen Marshall of Roosevelt, Utah; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Thursday’s service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 3500 W. 18th Avenue in Eugene. Andreason’s Cremation & Burial Service in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
