Atherton Seeley

AD AGENCY EXECUTIVE, 89 Atherton Seeley, 89, a former advertising agency executive, died of lung cancer Sunday at his home at Springfield Retirement Residence in Wyndmoor. He lived most of his life in Wyndmoor.

Mr. Seeley was an account executive at Gray & Rogers Advertising Agency, where he went to work in 1942 after nine years with James G. Lamb Advertising Agency. He was named partner in January 1951.

After his retirement in 1971, he turned to nature photography, traveling around the country. Among the places he visited were Pocono Lake Preserve near Blakeslee, Pa., Sanibel Island and Everglades National Park in Florida, and Churchill, Canada - where he went to photograph polar bears.

He had several local exhibitions of his photographs, and he won prizes for pictures taken in Valley Green in Fairmount Park.

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Seeley attended Germantown Academy and Washington and Lee University.

He was a former member of Pocono Lake Preserve, the Philadelphia Cricket Club and St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Sara Akel; four grandchildren; a brother; and a sister.

Services were held Wednesday.
