Barbara Leona Rowland Seeley, 85, passed away June 5, 2011 in Salt Lake City, UT, reuniting with her loving husband after just a week apart. Born October 23, 1925 in Salt Lake City, UT to Matthew Wilford Rowland and Louie Naomi Hodges. A long time resident of South Salt Lake, she loved her home on Blair Street and the many memories that she made there. Barbara was devoted to the care of her parents until they passed away. She was a loving wife to her sweetheart Afton and instantly fit into her new family when they married. Grandma Barbara was adored by the many grandchildren that became hers. She also loved her Rowland nieces and nephews with all her heart. "Touched you last." Barbara graduated from Granite High School in 1944 and proudly helped plan a 50 year reunion. She was dear to her elderly neighbors. She was industrious and fun to be around. She was always a good sport and eager for an adventure. She was a gardener and made grape jelly famous in her circle of friends and family. She loved dolls and sharing that love with the little girls in her life. Barbara was a feisty and devoted supporter of causes she believed in. She was dedicated and a very hard worker. Barbara's beloved pets, Benji, Teddy and Suzy were part of her family. As an active member of the LDS church she served in many organizations. She worked for the Water District and Utah Oil for many years. She enjoyed USO dances and supporting the war efforts. She was a bowler, loved travel, and scrap-booking memories. Survived by her Seeley family; brother Steve (Judy) Rowland; sister-in-law Verla Rowland and Evelyn Rowland and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents and brothers Richard and William Rowland and her two nieces. A joint funeral service for Afton and Barbara will be held Thursday June 9, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, 1950 East 10600 South, where a viewing will be held one half hour prior to the service. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.
