SEELEY, Beatrice H. - Age 93, of Alpena, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009 at home. Beatrice was born in Metamora, Michigan on October 19, 1915, one of eight children born to Frank and Glodie Rivett. She attended Flint Central High School and dropped out to help support her family. She then went to Old Women's Hospital and became an OR prep nurse under the direction of Miss Margaret McLaren. She married Melvin H. Winer and had Marilynn Jo in 1939. In 1942 she divorced Melvin and went to work at AC Spark Plug, Industrial Avenue on the machine gunbolt job until 1945. She married Thomas Seeley in 1948. During the Korean War in 1952, Tom was recalled into the Marine Corps. Bea and Marilynn joined Tom in Camp Pendleton, California. They returned to Michigan in 1953 and in 1954, daughter, Jacqueline Ann was born. Daughter, Marilynn married Herman A. Wood in 1967 and they gave Bea two grandchildren, Susan and Tom. In the early 1970's she worked at Lapeer Road Thrifty Drug as a cashier. Bea and Tom moved to Alpena on the Thunder Bay River after his retirement from AC Spark Plug in 1975. She enjoyed fishing and in the 1980's volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center. She and Tom spent 17 winters in Cape Canaveral, Florida, where she became known as the Shell Lady who spent morning walking the beach, collecting shells, feeding the sea gulls and talking to fishermen. Bea was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and a Life Member of the VFW Post #2496 Ladies Auxiliary.

She leaves cherished memories to devoted, loving husband, Tom, daughters, Marilynn J. Wood and Jacqueline Ann Seeley and husband Blade D. Merrow, grandchildren Tom and wife Yvonne Wood, and Susan Nelson, great-grandchildren, Taylor Ann Wood, Jason Norman, and Jordan Nelson. She leaves two sisters, and a sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank special friends, Connie and Bill Adams.

Cremation has already taken place and no memorial or funeral service will be held. Bea faithfully said her prayers every night. Please say a prayer for her tonight. Arrangements were entrusted to McWilliams Funeral Home - Alpena
