SEELEY, BENNIE LESTER, 92, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday (May 11, 2006) at Edward White Hospital. Born in McWhorter, Ky., he came here in 1996 from Rushville, Ind. He was a farmer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Gateway Christian Center and was active at the Gulfport Senior Center. Survivors include a daughter, Kara'lynneBrubaker, St. Petersburg; two sisters, Frieda Head, Tampa, and Gertrude McQueen, Hamilton, Ohio; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. David C. Bennie Lester Seeley, 92, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Edward White Hospital in St. Petersburg.

Born Dec. 5, 1913, in McWhorter, Ky., he was the son of John and Lucy (Evans) Seeley, both deceased. He married Audrey Martin in 1964; she preceded him in death.

Mr. Seeley worked at International Furniture in Rushville for 25 years, retiring in 1979. He farmed in Rush and Franklin counties for 50 years, raising livestock and grain. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and achieved the level of U.S. Naval Seaman First Class. He received a Victory Medal and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service in the liberation of the Philippines. He was a member of Positive Impact Worldwide Ministries in St. Petersburg, Fla., where his daughter and son-in-law are pastors.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn (Mrs. Jay) Brubaker of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four granddaughters; and several great-granddaughters.

Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three sons, Leroy Lester Seeley, Master Sergeant William Glenn Seeley and Gary Wayne Seeley; one granddaughter, Lisa Marie Seeley; and one grandson, Russell Glenn Seeley.

A local memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Light House Gospel Church in Metamora with the Rev. Troy Slagle officiating.
