RAPID CITY - Bernardine E. Seeley, 86, of Rapid City, passed away peacefully at her home, on April 22, 2004. She was born on Oct. 5, 1917, in Kalkaska County, the daughter of John and Margaret (Gambin) Steve. Bernardine married Donald G. Seeley on Oct. 12, 1935, in Kalkaska.

She was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church and PCCW.

Bernardine enjoyed gardening, her flower garden, bird watching, and baking, and was known for her delicious pies. She was always willing to put others first in her life, and her faith and belief in her God was lifelong. Bernadine especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving Bernadine are her children, Alan (Bonnie Ferrell) Seeley, Kelly (Dianna) Seeley, Michaeline (Marvin) Crawford, Barry (Diane) Seeley, Gary Seeley, and Bernard Seeley, all of Kalkaska; seven grandchildren, Michael (Stacey) Seeley, Donald (Julie) Seeley, Justin (Lisa) Seeley, Mary (David) Moore, Monica (Everett) Homan, Cassie (Brian) Allen and Darcie (Josh) Hicks; 16 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Sally McGarry of Eaton Rapids.

Bernardine was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, on Dec. 18, 1968; her siblings, Ann Birgy, John Donahue and Joseph Steve; and her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Seeley.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2004, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska, with a scripture service at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2004, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Kalkaska. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
