BALLSTON SPA – Charles J. Seeley, 88 of Knickerbocker Street, died Friday at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs.

Born in the Town of Ballston, Mr. Seeley was a lifelong resident.

He was a steam fireman for the New York State Department of Parks and Recreation at Saratoga Spa State Parks, retiring in 1976.

Mr. Seeley was a member of the Ballston Spa United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Gladys Seeley; a son George Seeley of Malta; five daughters, Caroline Hadden of Colorado Springs, Colo., Roberta McGhee of Tarrington, Conn; Mable Seeley of Albany, Laura Condie of Binghamton and Florence Hilder of Corinth; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ballston Spa United Methodist Church.

There will be no calling hours.

Contributions may be made to the church or the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are by the Wheeler Funeral Home.

BALLSTON SPA -- Charles J. Seeley, 88, of Knickerbocker St., Ballston Spa, NY, died Friday, June 22, 2001 at Saratoga Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in the Town of Ballston to Edward and Florence Seeley and was a lifelong resident of the area. He retired in 1976 as a steam fireman with the NY State Department of Parks and Recreation at the Saratoga Spa State Park. Some of his hobbies included camping and puttering. He was a member of the Active Angels Camping Club for many years. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Gladys Seeley, of Ballston Spa; son and daughter-in-law, George and Margaret Seeley of Malta; five daughters and their husbands, Caroline and Donald Hadden of Colorado Springs, Roberta and Henry McGhee of Torrington, CT, Mable Seeley of Albany, Laura Condie of Binghamton, and Florence and Herbert Hilder of Corinth. Also included are 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and one cat, C.J. He was predeceased by two sisters, Anna Littleton and Mary Ramsdill and a son-in-law, Williams Condie who passed away on February 26, 2001. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 29, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ballston Spa United Methodist Church on Milton Ave., in Ballston Spa, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ballston Spa United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association.
