Capt. Clayton K. Seeley, (ret) died Saturday at the age of 74 at Munson Medical Center following an extended illness.

Born June 6, 1901 at Kalkaska, he was the son of George and Isadore (McFarren) Seeley. On Dec. 25, 1923 at Kalkaska, he married the former Leone Lannin, who survives.

He had been a Traverse City resident since 1923 and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. Seeley was a life member of Traverse City Elks Lodge 232.

Seeley served as a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, and was a Great Lakes seaman, later Lake Captain, for 48 years, retiring in 1966.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

Surviving are his wife, Leone; one son, Kenneth, of Traverse City; two daughters, Mrs. John (Phylis) Bozeman of Port Richey, Fla., and Mrs. Carl (Wilma) Lemcool of Traverse City; one brother, Clark, of Kalkaska; one sister, Mrs. Vera Buckel of Kalkaska; and nine grandchildren.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church, Traverse City; the Rev. Delbert E. Nixon officiating. Burial will be at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call at the Hibbard Funeral Chapel today, and Tuesday until 12:30 p.m., when the body will be removed to the church to repose from 1 p.m. until time of service.

In remembrance of the deceased, those who wish may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 329 S. Union Street, Traverse City, or to the Michigan Heart Association, Suite 220. NBT Building, Traverse City. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral chapel.
