Clinton Seeley, church activist

Clinton L. Seeley, 84, of 149 Allen St., a retired cook in the city schools, died on Wednesday in Baystate Medical Center.

Born here, she was a lifelong resident, and a graduate of the former Classical High School. She was a foster grandparent for the Springfield Urban League.

She worshipped at the Bethel African-Methodist Episcopal Church, and belonged to the H.L. Moore Hostess Club, Club 60, the Commission on Evangelism, the Church School, the C. Louise Seeley Lay Organization, the Harriet Tubman Missionary Society, and the Sarah Allen Stewardess Board.

She leaves two nieces, Deidra L. Dixon of Springfield and Neline Seeley of Hartford; a nephew, William Seeley of Newark, N.J., and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be on Monday morning in the church, with burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are on Sunday evening at the church, and Henderson Funeral Home is in charge.
