RYE BEACH, N.H. - Clinton R. Seeley, 64, an author whose novel "Storm Fear" was published in four languages, died last Thursday in Portsmouth Hospital after suffering a heart-related ailment and complications.

His book, one of several he had written, was made into a movie in the late 1950s and starred Cornel Wilde. A suspense novel set in the Catskill Mountain, it was told through the eyes of a a little boy. Mr. Seeley had been a newspaper reporter for the Catskill Gazette in the 1950s.

Mr. Seeley also wrote a number of short stories, and for 12 years in the late 1960s and 1970s he operated a successful art gallery, specializing in quality painting and sculpture, in Provincetown.

For the past 19 years he lived in Rye Beach.Previously he resided in Boston.

Mr. Seeley was also associated as a consultant with the firm of Jasinski Architects Inc., at Rye Beach.

At the start of the US entrance into World War II he was stationed at the Army's Schofield Barracks when Pearl Harbor and the barracks were bombed by the Japanese on Dec. 7, 1941. He served the remaining war years in the Pacific and later fought at Guadalcanal and in the Solomon Islands, among other island campaigns.

Mr. Seeley leaves a brother, Richard Seeley of Hensonville, N.Y.; two sisters, Evelyn Thetford of Delray Beach, Fla., and Marjorie Garcia of Lake Mary, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Yesterday, a tribute was paid to Mr. Seeley in the Remick Funeral Home in Hampton, and today at 7 p.m. a service will be conducted in Decker Funeral Home, Windham, N.Y. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Ashland, N.Y., at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
