Retired Rail Official Dies
The retired office manager of Santa Fe Railway in Amarillo, D.M. “Max” Seeley, 71. of 4225 S. Van Buren, died this morning in St. Anthony’s Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home.
A native of North Freedom, Wis., Mr. Seeley retired Dec. 31, 1967, after working for the railroad for more than 49 years.
He joined the railroad in Topeka, Kan., in 1918 and worked in the superintendent’s office in Dodge City, Kan., before coming to Amarillo in 1930.
He was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Alice of the family home; a daughter, Mrs. Jay Crutchfield of Sunray; a son, Neill of Baytown, and six grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors.

Funeral services for Daniel M. “Max” Seeley, 71, of 4225 S. Van Buren, retired office manager for Santa Fe Railway, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Schooler-Gordon Colonial Chapel.
Dr. James R. Carroll, pastor of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Mr. Seeley died Thursday morning in St. Anthony’s Hospital.
Born in North Freedom, Wis., he joined Santa Fe in 1918 in Topeka, Kan., and worked in the superintendent’s office to Amarillo in 1930. He retired in 1967 and was a veteran of World War I.
