Kim Olson knew how she wanted to honor her father on his last ride. She called Paul Jackson, member of the Sheriff's Mounted Posse and asked if the members would ride honor escort for her father's casket. They said yes. Jackson said this is only the second such escort given in Utah County. He patterned the escort after the mounted military escort of President John F. Kennedy's funeral cortege.

David R. Seeley passed away, Aug. 3, and the Sheriff's Mounted Posse rode escort for his funeral from Spanish Fork Main Street to the cemetery. Seeley had been a member of the Mounted Posse, some time back.

Jackson, Alicia Hone, Darryl Timmons, and a riderless horse preceded the hearse. Jackson said "it's an honor for us to do this." The riderless horse, led by Timmons, carried Seeley's hat on the saddle horn, and his boots, turned backward in the stirrups. The backward boots signify a downed rider, and also in the Military signify the Calvary officer looking back at his troops one last time.

Usually the Mounted Posse is involved in search and rescue and community service projects. They also compete in shows, as part of Western Riding Club Association.
