DeLos Adams Seeley, 84, city planner

DeLos Adams Seeley, a former city planner who was instrumental in overseeing development of many of Oahu's parks and scenic attractions, died Feb. 4. He was 84.

Seeley, a landscape architect, arrived in the Islands in the early 1950s to work in the city planning department. As parks board planner, he led the team that oversaw the design and construction of the Waikiki Shell.

Seeley retired in 1971 as the deputy director of the Department of Parks and Recreation.

He is survived by a son, William daughter, Marilynn Gaspar sister, Josephine Seeley and 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Church of the Holy Nativity in Aina Haina. Burial will follow in the church columbarium. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of choice

Member of Historic Hawaii Foundation, Friends of Iolani Palace, Friends of Waipahu Cultural Garden Park, the Outdoor Circle, and Kaneohe Yacht Club. Survived by son, William daughter, Marilynn Gaspar 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren sister, Josephine Seeley. Service 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Holy Nativity, Aina Haina burial follows at church columbarium. No flowers. Contributions to favorite charities.
