Donald “Butch” Seeley

Donald “Butch” Seeley, age 65, passed away Friday, June 14, 2002, at St. Mary Medical Center.

Born in Wilkes Barre, Pa., on May 1, 1937, he had been a resident of Penndel for the past 30 years. Donald had worked in roofing and siding and had owned his own business Don Seeley and Sons. He served in the Air Force for two years at Randolf Air Force Base in Texas. Ag the age of 12, he taught himself to play the guitar, sing and yodel. He won several local talent contests, which led him to be a three-time winner on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour. He also appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show, and toured all the air force bases in the United States with Tops and Blues Band. He started his own band, The Seeley Rangers, volunteered his talents to several nursing homes and was featured regularly at Albert’s Music Hall in Waretown, N.J., and Columbus Farmers Market. This led him to appear in sever newspaper articles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Ruth Heiner Seeley, and his son, Mark. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Catherine Higgins Seeley; son, Michael H.; and daughter, Maureen Gardner. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shaina Paulewicz, Carly, Mary, and Alyssa Evansky; great grandchildren, Reiley and Taylor Paulewicz; brothers, Walter and Allan Seeley; a sister Elsie Harris of Wilkes Barre; and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

There will be no services.

Contributions in Donald’s memory may be made to any of the nursing homes which he volunteered his musical talents, such as Hill House, Mill House, Wood School, and New Lisbon Development Center. Arrangements under the direction of the James O. Bradley Funeral Home, Inc. Penndel, Pa.
