DONALD HARRY SEELEY

DONALD HARRY SEELEY

Born November 7, 1919 in Camas, Washington, he recently passed away to be with his Lord and Savior after a prolonged illness.

A graduate of Weatherwax High in Aberdeen, he briefly attended Washington State University on a baseball scholarship before joining the US Naval Reserve in time to be sunk at Pearl Harbor. He proudly served his country through more than thirty surface-to-surface engagements, including Guadalcanal, Kula Gulf (where he was sunk aboard the Helena a second time) and, finally, Leyte Gulf where he was sunk yet again while aboard the USS St. Lo. Heavily decorated, he was awarded three purple hearts, among others. He married Eva Peterson on December 15, 1944 and made their home in Tacoma where they raised four children.

Preceded in death by his first wife, he is survived by his beloved wife of eleven years, Lee; sister Mildred (Clifton); two brothers, Harold and Leroy; daughters Linda (Bergsma), Marilyn (Amsbury), Karen (Sbory); son Donald R.; seven grandchildren, Kaia, Matthew, Joel, Brian, Brent, Haley and Evan; and two step-grandchildren, Tiffany and Tarryn, of whom he was most proud.

An able craftsman, avid Mariners fan, his loving encouragement, interminable spirit and unfaltering faith will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family especially wishes to thank Dr. Frank Senecal and Duane Opp for their special care.

Visitation will be 12-9 p.m., TODAY, May 5 at Mt. View Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. View Memorial Park. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004 at Abundant Life Fellowship Church, 5917 S. Thompson.

Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home, 584-0252.
