Lewiston - Dorothy J. Seeley, 66, of Auburn, passed away suddenly from natural causes on Feb. 19.

She was born in Lee County, Miss., on Dec. 9, 1940, the daughter of the late Annie Strader and Robert Sherfey, a farming family in the town of Nettleton.

She graduated from Nettleton High, in 1958, where she was nominated as most beautiful and homecoming queen. From there she went on to further her education in Memphis, at Draughon's Business College.

In Memphis, she met and married Donald Seeley, of Minot, and moved to Auburn, as a clerk for the city of Auburn Engineering and Planning. She then turned her attention to raising a family and moved to Turner, where she raised three sons. She lived in Turner for more than 30 years, working at Service Merchandise and Porteous, as manager of their jewelry departments.

She was a devoted mother and actively participated in her children's lives. She loved animals, and was most fond of her cats. Her younger year interests included camping, snowmobiling and cooking out. Her later years were hampered by chronic illnesses, and most markedly a breast cancer survivor. She loved her family the most, and enjoyed visiting with them. Her five grandchildren were the highlight of her life, and they made her very happy and proud.

Three words to depict her and her life, would be strength for enduring the health aspects of her life, honor for the way that she treated people, and dignity for the way she carried herself.

She is survived by her three sons, Gregory Seeley, and wife, Jane of Greene, Gene Seeley, and companion, Lena Asselin of Turner, and Brent Seeley, and wife, Amanda of Turner; five grandchildren, Morgan, Jordan and Gabriel Seeley, Mariah and Kodi Barrett; three sisters, Diane Sherfey, of Miss, Alice Jaudon, and husband, Clarence of Tenn, Rudy Fancher, and husband, Robert of Tenn; two brothers, Glenn Sherfey, and wife, Catherine of Miss, and Jake Sherfey, and wife, Ocill of Miss.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, and by a sister and brother, Mary Burgess and Emmitt Sherfey.
