Dorothy M. A life long resident of Elmira passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2003, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility following an illness at the age of 84. Dorothy was born here in Elmira on December 31, 1918, daughter of the late Willard and Mary Lis Leisenring. She graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1936. Dorothy married Edward Frances Seeley on October 12, 1940 and he predeceased her on February 13, 1981. She worked for many years at St. Joseph's Hospital as a Nurses Aide. Dorothy was a life long communicant of St. Mary's Church. She devoted her life to caring for those in need, a kind lady who cherished her family and friends. Dorothy was most grateful to have shared her home in later years, with her loving granddaughter and husband, Abygail and Adam Keller, and her great-grandsons, Brendon and Trevor, who took extra special care of her. Surviving are her children, a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia-Lee and Alex Harrian of Savona; sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Cindy Seeley of Southport, Joel and Susan Seeley of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Merrone of Elmira and Lois Lincoln of Mt. Morris; and a brother, Tom Leisenring of Binghamton; along with several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport, on Sunday afternoon, March 9, 2003, from 3 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday morning (9 a.m.) in St. Mary's Franklin St. Church with the Reverend Stephen Karani as celebrant. Dorothy will be buried next to her husband in the Seeley family plot of St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Elmira. Her family will provide flowers and requests that donations be made to the Chemung County Alzheimer's Support Group, P.O. Box 588, Elmira, NY 14902, in Dorothy's memory.
