Publication Douglas W. Seeley, 82, formerly of 67 Chambers St., passed away Monday (May 31, 2010), in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.

A lifelong area resident, he was born May 30, 1928, in Jamestown, the son of the late Chester and Mary Anderson Seeley.

Doug attended Falconer High School, and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1953 serving in Korea. In earlier years, Doug was employed by the Chautauqua County Highway Department for 17 years, owned and operated along with his father Seeley Blacktopping and Excavating and in later years was employed C & R Construction. After retirement, he was employed by K-Mart in Lakewood for seven years.

Surviving are his sister, Joyce Ernst of Ellington; two stepsons: Ronald and Richard Doud; nephews: Jeff (Debbie) Ernst and Bradley (Debbie) Ernst; and a niece, Pam (Scott) Pollock; four great-nieces and nephews: Jackie Kiffer, Stephanie Ernst, Daniel Ernst and Katie Ernst.

Besides his parents. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aretha I. Shawl Seeley, whom he married in 1969. and who died Feb. 18, 1996.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain of the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
