Elsie Carol Seeley unexpectedly passed away March 1, 2007 at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Wash., due to complications arising during surgery. Born April 13, 1932 in Watsonville, Calif., to Clarence and Madeline Merrifield, Elsie spent her childhood years growing up in both Boulder and Steamboat Springs, Colo. She graduated from Boulder High in 1950 and she was married to William R. Seeley, her husband of 56 years, in Steamboat Springs on Christmas Eve in 1950.

Elsie was a woman of many loves. She was an avid weather enthusiast and enjoyed watching the weather channel. In addition, she loved spending time at the beach, taking in the beauty of her surroundings, and watching the classic movies of the 50s and 60s. Elsie's other hobbies included creating beautiful holiday related pottery items for her family as well as collecting books and stamps. Elsie was a gentle fun loving spirit as well as a wholesome, spiritually oriented, family centered woman. She will be forever remembered and missed not only by her family but also by all who knew and loved her.

Elsie is survived by her husband; her three children, Kathy Rehmer of Vancouver, Wash., Charles Seeley of Beaverton, Ore., and John Seeley of De Pere, Wis.; her sister Frances Gooras of Longmont, Colo., and her brother William Merrifield of Springdale, Ark. In addition to her children, Elsie's family includes eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends and family members are invited to attend a memorial service in celebration of both her life and her heavenly homecoming on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church located at 795 E. Powell Blvd., Gresham, OR 97030.
