Mrs. Elsie Lockyer Seeley, 95, a long time resident of Caroga Lake, passed away at Palatine Nursing Home on August 3, 2006 following a lengthy illness. She was born in the town of Mayfield on September 23, 1910, one of seven children of Thomas Edmund Lockyer and Mary Mayrick Lockyer. She is survived by one sister, Ruth Brooks of Broadalbin, New York and eighteen nieces and nephews. Her husband of 63 years, Holton Seeley, passed away in February of 2006.

Mrs. Seeley graduated from Broadalbin Schools and from the Nathan Littauer Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1934. She spent her professional career working at Nathan Littauer Hospital and as a private duty nurse.

She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and was active in the Emmanuel Baptist Church as a Sunday School Teacher and numerous other capacities. After her retirement from nursing, she operated a seasonal fire control weather station at home for the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation for more than 20 years.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Saturday from the Kobuski-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, New York. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Round Top Cemetery, Stratford, New York. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of New York, 85 Watervliet Avenue, Albany, New York 12206-2083.
