COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. - Emma Jane "E.J." Seeley, 90, of College Place, Wash. died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009 at Regency at the Park in College Place.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30 at the College Place Presbyterian Church. Concluding services and interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla, Wash.

Mrs. Seeley was born June 2, 1919 in Pendleton to Frank and Jane M. Conarty Johnson. She attended Ferndale School and graduated from McLoughlin Union High School in 1937. After graduation she went to Walla Walla Business College. She worked as a secretary for the Walla Walla Union Bulletin.

In 1942, at the age of 23, she married Lt. Tyler Woodward Seeley in Walla Walla. The couple moved to Corpus Christi, Texas and then later to the San Francisco, Calif.

Mrs. Seeley enjoyed volunteering with the Quilters of the College Place Presbyterian Church, the Christian Aid Center, the American Red Cross and Sunnyhills School in Marin County. In 1983, after 40 years of work, Mrs. Seeley was recognized for 15,000 or more hours of her effort for over 20 years. She returned to Walla Walla in 2002. Mrs. Seeley is a member of the College Place Presbyterian Church, Fort Walla Walla Museum and the San Francisco Yacht Club.

Survivors include granddaughter, Victoria Bedeau of Indianapolis, Ind. and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tyler Seely; sisters Margaret Lamb, Lois Vasilio, Edna May Jordon; sister-in-law Elizabeth Johnson; brother Harold Johnson; daughter Mary Lois Seeley; granddaughter Kathryn Bedeau.

Memorial contributions may be made to the College Place Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund, and may be sent in care of Minselle-Rhodes Funeral Home. Condolences may be made to Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater on Tuesday 9-noon, 1-5 P.M. and 7-9 P.M.
