Mr. Seeley, 77, Sharon Resident

SHARON, CONN. – Ernest R. Seeley, 77; Amenia Union Road, Sharon, an active member of St. Thomas’ Church in Amenia Union, died Monday at Sharon Hospital after a brief illness.

A native of Sharon, he was born Jan. 7, 1891, the son of the late Henry and Ella (Dennis) Seeley, Mr. Seeley was a life member of St. Thomas Church: served as vestryman for 30 years and as a senior warden for 24 years. In 1963 he was named senior warden emeritus. He also is a 40-year member and a seventh degree member of the Webutuck Grange.

Mr. Seeley is survived by his wife, the former Lucy Torrey: a son, Kenneth, Sharon: two granddaughters, Mrs. Elaine Johnson and Mrs. Barbara Greenwood: a brother, Burton Seeley, Verbank: five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas’ Church, Amenia Union. The Rev. Malcolm Sawtelle will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Amenia Union.

Friends may call at his home, Amenia Union Road, this afternoon and night. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kenny Funeral Home, Sharon.
