ESTHER WELCH SEELEY, 72

TOWNSEND - Esther J. (Stockwell) Welch Seeley, 72, of 468 Main St. was stricken ill and died Saturday night in her home.

Her husband, Theodore R. Seeley, died in 1990. Her first husband, Lawrence C. Welch, died in 1980. Among her relatives, she leaves three sisters-in-law, Kathleen A. Welch of Townsend, Beverly J. McIntyre of Hopkinton and Barbara J. Underhill of Fitchburg; and three stepdaughters, including Elizabeth A. Gilmore of Holden. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Merton E. and Ethel I. (Jefts) Stockwell, and lived here many years.

She was a production worker at Elsa Williams Needlecraft Co. in Fitchburg, retiring in 1978. She previously worked at Asher Co. in Fitchburg.

Mrs. Seeley was a member of United Congregational Church and the Townsend Golden Agers, and a former member of the Townsend Women's Club and the Townsend Historical Society.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in United Congregational Church, Brookline Street. The Rev. Nancy Hayes-Kilgore will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Calling hours at T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St., are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Townsend Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 565, Townsend, 01469.
