Franklin Perry Seeley

HILTON HEAD ISLAND -- Franklin Perry Seeley, 79, died July 19 at Hilton Head Medical Center and Clinics.

He was born in Flushing, N.Y. He attended Kent School in Kent, Conn., and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating in 1942 with a degree in electrical engineering. He later received a doctorate in education from Florida International University.

He spent four years on active duty with the Navy at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio, during World War II and continued his duty in the Navy Reserve, retiring with 30 years as lieutenant commander. He spent part of his career as a consulting engineer and later as chief electrical engineer for Dade County, Fla., specializing in street lighting. He was an avid golfer for many years and held a pilot license.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Edith Alexander Seeley of Hilton Head Island; a son, Dr. Thomas Seeley of Mount Shasta, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Merwin of Weaverville, Calif., and Sarane Lyons of Flagstaff, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be held at a later date.
