FRENCHTOWN — Gaylord E. Seeley, 75, of 25978 State Highway 27, Guys Mills (Frenchtown), went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 13, 2007, at Meadville Medical Center.

Born April 3, 1932, in Rocky Grove, he was the son of Walter G. and Cora H. Miller Seeley. He married Mary E. Scully Nov. 5, 1955; she survives.

He worked for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a truck driver and foreman for 20 years, retiring in 1996. He also was a barber in Titusville and Cochranton and was self-employed cutting hair for 50 years.

He was a member of St. Hippolyte’s Roman Catholic Church in Frenchtown and a member of East Mead Volunteer Fire Department.

He was a sergeant with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Italy.

He enjoyed hunting, bird watching, roses and gardening, and was a devoted Cleveland Indians fan. But most of all, his wife, children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter was his greatest enjoyment.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 51 years, include a son, William E. (Ed) Seeley and his wife, Kathleen, of Uniontown, Ohio; four daughters, Kathleen Cowan and her husband, Robert, Patricia Ferry and her husband, Steve, and Betty Kebert and her husband, Richard, all of Meadville, and Dorothy Dale and her husband, Larry, of New Bern, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, Hope Koontz and her husband, Stanley, Christopher Seeley and his wife, Megan, Gabrielle Pierce and her husband, Matthew, Jennifer Gordon and her husband, Christopher, Adam Dale, Kyle Kebert, Ashley Dale, Brianne Ferry, Elyse Kebert, Lindsay Cowan, Erin Seeley and Derek Cowan; a great-granddaughter, Layla Koontz; a sister, Betty Hollabaugh of Meadville; a brother, Clarence (Bim) Seeley and his wife, Charlsie, of Cochranton; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Dickson Family Funeral Home, 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A vigil service will be conducted there at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Hippolyte’s Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dennis Veltri of the church as celebrant and the Rev. Jeff Noble of Church of Notre Dame in Hermitage as co-celebrant.

Interment with military honors conducted by the Cochranton American Legion will be in St. Hippolyte Cemetery.

The family asks that memorials be made in Gaylord’s name to St. Hippolyte Church, 26012 State Highway 27, Guys Mills, Pa. 16327.
