SEELEY, Georgie Z. Age 88, of County Route 4 in Campbell, died Saturday, December 13, 2008, at her home surrounded by family.

Georgie was born in Gladstone, Manitoba, Canada on January 7, 1920 to Harlin and Marie (Layton) Long. She married William Seeley in Chambers, NY on March 17, 1940 and was preceded in death by him on February 13, 1999. She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm for over 68 years. She was a graduate of Campbell Central School (1938). Georgie had the ability to make each member of her family, from children to great-grandchildren, feel special and involved herself with them as a 4-H and Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the Steuben County Farm Bureau and worked on the Campbell Election Board. She will be long remembered for her wonderful homemade pickles and jams which she shared with everyone.

Her survivors include a son, Ralph (Frances) Seeley of Campbell; four daughters, Joan Gardiner of Piscataway, NJ, Lorraine (James) Tubbs of Painted Post, Patricia Woodard of Kannapolis, NC, and Cynthia (Steve) Seeley-Taylor of Matthews, NC; one sister, Beulah Morse of Marilla, NY; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews. Georgie was predeceased by her brothers, Nigil, William, and Ralph Long; and by a sister, Marilyn Prosick.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 17th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning, where funeral services will follow calling hours at 8:00 p.m. with the Reverend Theodore Brennan officiating. Burial will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery.
