Mr. Gerald A. “Jerry” Seeley, Jr., 79, died Friday, May 23, 2003 at home.

He was born March 11, 1924 in Parma, OH, the son of the late Gerald A. Seeley and Lula Tuttle Seeley. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Navy, and served his country in the South Pacific during World War II, returning to the Naval Reserve during the Korean War. He was a graduate of N.C. State University’s school of engineering, and his career was spent as a mechanical engineer, retiring from Frieze Machine Company in the mid 1980’s. Jerry was an avid woodworking hobbyist, specifically spending years designing and building clocks.

Jerry is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne Seeley, and also by his sister, Jean Seeley Belch. He is survived by his sister, Mary Seeley Phillips, of Tavares, FL.; four children, Barbara Baker and her husband, Don, of Winston Salem, Jane Seeley of Mr. Shasta, CA., Joann Keane and her husband, Jim, of Charlotte, and David Seeley, of Lake Wylie, S.C.; and six grandchildren, Elizabeth Baker Miller and Cameron Baker; Chris, Paul, and Daniel Keane, and Jarod Seeley. He is also survived by five nephews and two nieces. The family will receive friends at the Harry and Bryant Chapel, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte from 7:00 -8:30 P.M. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, N.C. 28204 or to the American Cancer Society, 500 East Morehead Street, Suite 211, Charlotte, N.C. 28202.
