Gertrude M. (Purcell) Seeley, 95, died peacefully on Palm Sunday, April 5, 2009, at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas V. Seeley, who died in 1973.

She was born in Gloucester, the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Gertrude L. (Bishop) Purcell. She lived in Watertown and Newton for many years before moving to Maynard, where she resided with her son and his family for eight years. Mrs. Seeley enjoyed playing selections on the organ by ear until late in life, and also liked spending time at local coffee shops with friends and family.

She is survived by her son, Ronald T. Seeley and his wife, Patricia, of Maynard; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Joseph C. Purcell, James M. Purcell, Harry B. Purcell, and Eleanor M. Macintosh.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Mass. Ave. (Route 111), Acton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, in St. Bridget Church, corner Percival and Sudbury streets, Maynard. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St., Newton.
