Stratford, N.Y. — Gordon A. Seeley, 82, of Stewarts Landing Road in the town of Stratford, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 1, 2010.

He was born on June 24, 1928, in Little Falls, a son of the late William and Hazel (Myers) Seeley. Mr. Seeley attended Johnstown schools. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. On February 11, 1950, Gordon was united in marriage with Ora M. Snell at the Dolgeville Universalist Church.

Mr. Seeley was employed as a laborer for the town of Stratford, until his retirement in 1984. He was of the Protestant faith and a member of the Stratford Senior Citizens. He also enjoyed hunting and working on cars, machines, lawn mowers and small engines. He will be dearly missed by his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Ora, at home; a daughter, Kathy Rumrill and her husband, Walt, of Oppenheim; a step son, Carl Snell and his wife, Janet, of Johnstown; a step sister, Joyce Douglas and her husband, Howard, of Little Falls; two grandchildren, Jennifer Douglas and her husband, Gerald Jr., of Fort Plain, and Bill Rumrill and Kristin Cool, of Stratford; and two great-grandchildren, Caden Douglas and Mercedes Rumrill.

He was predeceased by a loving son, William Seeley, in 1970.

Funeral services for Mr. Seeley will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf St., Dolgeville. The Rev. R.W. Williams will officiate the service. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects for a calling hour beginning at noon prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Dibble Tuttle Cemetery in the town of Salisbury.

The family would like to thank their neighbors and friends, especially Lance and Amanda, for their help and care with Mr. Seeley these past few weeks.

In lieu of floral contributions, the family has asked that memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Seeley be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville, NY 12078.
