SEELEY, Gordon W. Sr.

Age 80 of Troy, PA died Friday, May 12, 2000 at Troy Community Hospital in Troy, PA. Mr. Seeley was the husband of the late Mary Lenox Seeley who died in 1978 and Edna Dolly Paffendorf Seeley who died in 1995. He was born in Canton, PA on February 4, 1920, a son of Harvey William and Maude Seeley. Mr. Seeley owned and operated Gordon Seeley Petroleum for many years. He was a very devoted family man and member of St. John’s Catholic Church. He was a World War II, U.S. Army Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Seeley is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey and Marge Seeley of Hopewell Junction, NY, Dr. Raymond and Betsy Seeley of Troy, PA and John Seeley of Sylvania, PA; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sarah Dunbar of Troy, PA and Jean and Tom Chappell of Coudersport, PA and a daughter-in-law, Karen (George) Sargeant of Troy, PA; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Gordon W. Seeley, Jr., in 1995 and three brothers, Guy, Leon and Lloyd. Friends are invited to call on Sunday, May 14, 2000 from 5 to 7 PM at the Gerald W. Vickery Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 110 W. Main St., Troy, PA. A prayer Virgil will be held at 4:45 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 15, 2000 at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Troy, PA with Father Bert S. Kozen as Celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Troy Area School District Foundation, c/o Robert Grantier, 250 High St., Troy, PA 16947.
