A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, in Evangelical Church in Oregon City for Grace Petticord Seeley, who died Nov. 24 at age 89.

Mrs. Seeley was born July 10, 1910, in Huntington Park, Calif. Her maiden name was Spaulding. She graduated from Pasadena (Calif.) City College. She married the Rev. Paul P. Petticord in 1930; he died in 1975. She assisted her husband's ministries in Corvallis, Yakima and Salem and moved to Portland in 1947 after he was named president of Western Evangelical Seminary. An accomplished artist and painter, her oil paintings of Christ are featured in churches in Grandview, Wash., Eugene and Yakima. A contemporary mural she created titled "Let There Be Light" hangs in the library at Western Evangelical Seminary, and her works have been exhibited at locations in Oregon and California, including several showings at George Fox University (now called George Fox Evangelical Seminary) in Newberg. Her second husband, Richard Barnes, died in 1987. Her third husband, Ray Seeley, died in 1989.

Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn Spaulding of Kailua, Oahu, and Pauline Tweed of San Diego; sisters, Nellie "Pearl" Salsbury of Pasadena, Calif., and Jewel Akey of Hemet, Calif.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Belcrest Cemetery in Salem. The family suggests remembrances to George Fox Evangelical Seminary. Arrangements are by Lincoln Willamette Funeral Directors.
