Mrs. Helen P. Seeley Dies Saturday at Sister’s Home

Would Have Been 85 in September – Life-long Resident of North Harpersfield and Jefferson – Funeral Tuesday

Mrs. Helen P. Seeley, widow of the late Delos A. Seeley of Jefferson, died Saturday evening at 6 o’clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Perry M. Denny of North Harpersfield. Mrs. Seeley would have been 85 years of age in September. Her only child, Herbert D. Seeley died in California about 15 years ago.

She was always rather frail physically; and since his death she had been more or less infirm. For several years past she was almost totally blind and when pneumonia gripped her a few days ago she had little reserve strength to resist the disease and soon succumbed.

Mrs. Seeley had since girlhood been a consistent and conscientious member of the Jefferson and North Harpersfield Methodist Episcopal churches. She was a woman upright in character and faithful to her convictions. She was born in the town of Kortright, daughter of David and Rhoda (Stines) Hendry and lived most of her life at North Harpersfield and Jefferson. Her husband passed away 23 years ago. Since this time with the exception of the first year, she had lived with her sister.

Besides Mrs. Denny she is survived by two sisters in North Harpersfield, Mrs. Sarah Bartrum and Mrs. Ermalinda C. Hamilton, a brother, David W. Hendry and a niece, Miss Hai Hamilton also of North Harpersfield and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ellen Mooney of Worcester, besides several nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Denny home, probably under the direction of Rev. O.J. Lockett of the North Harpersfield Methodist church.
