H. HERMAN SEELEY, 82 Canton RR 2 died early Saturday morning, May 25, 1996 at Towanda Memorial Hospital. Born March 7, 1914 in Canton Township, he was the son of the late Edgar and Jennie Rightmire Seeley. Herman married the former Rose Walcheski on December 11, 1937 in Canton. They owned and operated the family’s dairy farm in Canton Township until 1965. Mr. Seeley then worked as a self-employed excavator for 28 years until his retirement in 1993. Following retirement, Mr. Seeley was very active. One of his favorite past times was restoring antiques, especially older farm tractors. Herman enjoyed life. His main interest encompassed the love he shared for his home and family. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Alba. Surviving are; his wife, Rose Seeley at home; son and daughter-in-law, George Sr. and Janice Seeley, Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Robert Griffin, Canton; four grandsons and a granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; a nephew and many cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Seeley in March 1970 and his sister, Hilda Austin in March 1973. The funeral service was held Tuesday, May 28 at the Pepper Funeral Home, Canton with the Rev. Jasper Smith, retired Methodist minister officiating. Pallbearers were George Sr., Jack and Allen Seeley; Mark Griffin, Steve Deeghan and Craig Castle. Interment was in the East Canton Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Canton Ambulance Association, PO Box 38, Canton, PA in Mr. Seeley’s memory. –
