Hiram Harry Seeley, 87

Hiram Harry Seeley, 87, formerly of Lafayette, of Gleneden Beach, Ore., died Nov. 1, 2002, in his home.

Born June 28, 1915, in New Goshen, Virgo County, he attended Greencastle High School, where he played on the 1933 basketball team that made it to the Indiana High School state championship.

He married Norma B. Williams on April 10, 1933, in Lafayette. She died in 1993.

Mr. Seeley worked in the defense industry during World War II. He owned the Indianapolis Star Newspaper Agency in Lafayette for many years. He worked for the Orange Coast Daily Pilot in Costa Mesa, Calif., until retiring in 1980 as assistant circulation director.

After retirement he lived in San Clemente, Calif., and then later to Lincoln City, Ore. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and motorhome travel with his wife.

Surviving are a son, Charles Thomas Seeley of Bloomington and a daughter, Patricia Kay Peterson, of Lincoln City, Ore.

Private services will be held Friday in Greencastle.

Hiram Harry Seeley, 87, of Lincoln City died Nov. 1, 2002 at his home.

He was born June 28, 1915 in New Goshen, Vigo County, Ind., to Dora Agnes (Judson) and Charles Burl Seeley.

He was a member of the Greencastle High School basketball team, which reached the final game of the 1933 Indiana High School state championship.

He married Norma B. Williams on April 10, 1933 in Lafayette, Ind. She preceded him in death in 1993.

He worked in the defense industry during World War II, and later owned the Indianapolis Star Newspaper Agency in Lafayette, Ind., for many years.

They then moved to southern California, where he spent several years working at the Orange County Daily Pilot newspaper in Costa Mesa, Calif. He retired in 1980 as assistant circulation director.

They moved to San Clemente, Calif. and later settled in Lincoln City, where they enjoyed their motorhome and deep sea fishing. (Lincoln Co.)

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years.

Survivors include a son, Charles Thomas Seeley of Bloomington, Ind.; a daughter, Patricia Kay Peterson of Lincoln City; four grandchildren, Michael E. Seeley of Cincinnati, Ohio, T. Christopher Seeley of Bailey, Colo., Cheryl Weida of Westminster, Calif., and Jim Grenat of Lafayette, Ind.; and six great-grandchildren, Benjamin Seeley, Evan Seeley, Kirsten Hale, Caleb Hale, Damiana Grenat, and Afton Grenat. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; and six siblings.

A family memorial service and burial will take place Friday in Greencastle, Ind.
