JAMES SEELEY, EX-LANTANA VICE MAYOR

James Seeley, a former vice mayor of Lantana, died Sunday at his home of heart disease. He was 58.

Mr. Seeley was elected to the Lantana Town Council in 1984 and lost a race for mayor in 1985.

He came to Lantana in 1963 from Buffalo, N.Y. After working as vice president of the Bank of Palm Beach, Mr. Seeley held positions as a financial counselor for a medical collection agency and credit manager and auditor at JFK Medical Center. He had taken a medical leave from the JFK center last June.

Mr. Seeley began attending town council meetings in 1974 and in 1982 was appointed to the Lantana Code Enforcement Board. As a town council member, Mr. Seeley headed a committee that drafted a charter amendment giving the town manager greater job protection.

He was also a longtime member of the Lantana Athletic Association and served as its president.

Survivors include his wife, Judith; three sons, James, Jeffrey and Joseph; and a daughter, Jacqui Johnson. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Lake Worth. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the national heart, kidney and diabetes associations.

JAMES H. SEELEY "SKIP" 58, passed away peacefully after a long illness. He was born August 19, 1940 in Buffalo, NY to John and Mary Seeley of Cheektowaga, NY. He graduated from Maryvale High in 1958, then he came to Lantana, FL with his wife as a young man in 1964. James was previously Vice President of the Bank of Palm Beach, as well as a former council member and Vice Mayor of the Town of Lantana along with working in many other capacities for many years with the Lantana Athletic Association for his own four children and the youth of Lantana. He was employed recently at the Columbia JFK Medical Center for the past 15 years, and enjoyed being involved with St. Andrews Episcopal Church as advisor for the acolytes.

He was pre-deceased by brother, Robert and baby grandson, Matthew. He was the beloved husband of Judith; father of three sons and a daughter; James Michael & wife Tawmi of Renick, W.V.; Jeffrey John and wife, Denise of Clarence, NY; Joseph Edward of Lantana; and Jacqui Lynn Johnson and husband, Tim of Lake Worth. Three grandchildren; Ashley, Allyson, and Jeffrey; five sisters; three brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday, April 24 at the St. Andrews Episcopal Church 100 N. Palmway, Lake Worth, Fl. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to American Heart Association; American Diabetes Association; National Kidney Foundation; or to St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
